The research I've done makes it appear the bacteria found in sun tea came from less than hygenic food prep methods or was already present in the water source. Eating in some restaurants would be a higher concern for me. Think I'll go get a glass of tea. Oh, BTW, I use 2 family size tea bags in a qt of water which sits in the sun or on the kitchen counter until the color is right. Clear, mild, delicious, and perfect every time.Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18172946343588996404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3169314107796334970.post-37284566631265461042011-08-05T16:08:04.271-05:002011-08-05T16:08:04.271-05:00Well shoot, I rekon 12 tea bags to the gallon seem...Well shoot, I rekon 12 tea bags to the gallon seems bout right to me.

Dizzy, only plan to visit 3 lakes. Just put water and tea bags in large jar, sit out in sunny place for a few hours and the tea is brewed. Nice slow brewed and never comes close to boiling. Hot as it has been around here lately , shouldn't take more then a couple hours. I brew tomorrows today and put it in refrigerator, nice and cold come tomorrow.Bob from Athenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14124078025732286371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3169314107796334970.post-85093985181970291682011-08-05T10:57:52.779-05:002011-08-05T10:57:52.779-05:00For me it is bring the gallon of water to a boil.
...For me it is bring the gallon of water to a boil.
Turn off the fire. Add 6 decaf green tea bags to the hot water and steep at least fifteen minutes.
Remove the bags and chill the tea.

My rule is never bring the tea to a boil. It releases too much of the tannins and makes a more bitter tea.

My style and not claiming it is right, just my style.Barney, The Old Fat Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14242837062100545160noreply@blogger.com
