Wed. 8-20-08
Another exciting day. Drove around town for an hour before heading to the County Park for a week. Still lots of water but found a fairly dry spot right up against the dunes. I can see fishing boats, shrimp boats and ships as they pass me by in the ship channel. Beach is other side of the dunes, so's I can't see the gulf. Out my front windshield, I am look'n at The University of Texas where I retired from.
Had just a bit of rain while I was out runn'n the streets. Can't believe that in 3 years this old fishing village has changed so much. New buildings everywhere only to be blown away first big hurricane. Last big one was in 1980, Allen, not a direct hit, but close enough to tear stuff up.
Aother is way overdue.
Tuesday 8-19
Pulled out of Uvalde about 9am cook'n towards San Antonio. Nothing to talk about on the way there other than a little warm. Shot right on through San Antonio as I was on a freak'n mission. Was going to stop at R/V repair shop, but decided to just find the freak'n part and crawl under there and do it myself when I get to Port A.
Dogs had to pee in Flour Bluff, so's I pulled into HEB parking lot. Then Sally refused to go. Had to add some fluid to the leaking emergency brake, which I didn't have any. Walmart only a short walk.
Pulled into Port A only to find the place had been flooded. All the beach access roads were filled with water, so Sally didn't go to the beach. Afternoon coffee at Island Cafe. Good to see someone I know. $11.00 for a chef salad and coffee. Be eat'n home.
Slept the night at computer center. Not one cop banged on my door all night long. Not like Port A cops to let someone sleep. Got e-mail caught up and posted a couple to the groups.
Monday 8-18-08 Uvalde Texas
Sitting in the rain in Walmart RV Park in Uvalde Texas. I got the best site in the park right next to fresh cut grass, for the dogs, and a beautiful view of the highway. They gots water, but ya gotta catch it when the sprinklers come on early in the morning. If'n I don't gets throwed out, I gonna stay here a week or maybe till tomorrow morning.
This will be the last freak'n trip I take with out some kind of "game" plan. This old crap of just getting on a highway and going sucks. It might work just fine for a family of six, but this old fart is tired, weak, lazy, and downright undecided bout what direction to go. Guess'n that would be from these meds what makes me tired, weak and lazy.
Now I got MH problems. Freak'n "auto brake" light is on. Last two times that "auto brake" light come on, the emergency brake locked up tighter 'n a drum never to release till some mechanic replaced a part or two. Some pressure switches weren't work'n. This time, it releases and I can goes, but the freak'n light is still on and I'm out of warranty. Whoa is me!!! Closest shop is San Antonio, so's I guess next stop is San Antonio.
Gas is down to $3.49, then by the time I made it to the pumps, it was up to $3.52. My "free" $600 is almost gone from tour'n places I ain't supposed to be. MPG is down to 8.2, but spect that from run'n the generator and forget to turn the sucker off. Along with driv'n 50 miles in the wrong gear for the teenth time.
Sunday 8-17-08 Sanderson Texas
Woke up this morning feeling like poop. Pretty much decided that this driving every day is for "truckers". Thought by now I would be feeling all perky and rareing to go anywheres, but I think"n bout turning round and going back to Deming. But that ain't gonna happen.
Pulled into Langtry, Judge Roy Beans "hang em up" Bar and Grill only to find muck and mud everywhere. All I needs is to be stuck in a place like this. Roy weren't there, so's I told the little lady, "Della", I'll stop back in a couple years.
Wanted to stop at Siminole Canyon, just down the road a piece from "Roy's Place", but it was all muck and mud too. I'd be reccomending this place to anybody pass'n by to "stop take a look". Them Siminoles' had a way bout them. They run them buffalo plumb off them cliffs into that canyon and had BBQ for dinner. They lived in the canyons wheres no one could see and then, like a "jack in the box", they pop up shoot'n arrows, throw'n rocks and scream'n something bout "get off my land". Beautiful.
Well, went on to Uvalde instead of Eagle Pass what there be a casino for giv'n moneys away. The parking is free with all hook ups, but they gonna make my dogs stand outside on hot blacktop to pee. Have ya ever stood barefooted on blactop to pee? Ain't no picnic.
Another short day, but what the hoot, I still have 28 days to go nowhere and do nothing.
Pulled into the local Walmart RV Park for some rest and recreation. Only recreation so far is untangling these damn restless inquisitive dogs. They gotta pee on everything. Then "kick dirt", or in this case, grass.
Hope for a nice nights rest.

Texas Trip

Now I be on a freak'n island in south Texas.
This is a new thang for me, so's I gonna try it first.
