A dreary day in Del Rio

Holy crap.....there ain't no sunshine this morn'n an' it's a bit chilly out there....68 degs. And, what's this?....the wind is blow'n again this morn'n.

I was lay'n there in bed this morn'n all cozy an' warm. Damn, I must'a broke a toe or rip a toe nail slap off. That what it feel like anyhows. Weren't neither. Seems a nerve was act'n up an' just make me think I break a toe. But anyhows, I got up early. Hobble to the coffee pot an' load 'er up with mak'ns. It's still dark out there ya know. Them I got think'n......when I fire that generator up, Barney is gonna come alive an' say...."what the hell is that noise". So I wait for a while, think'n bout that first sip of pip'n hot coffee. Oh it's gonna taste soooo good.

Ok, my Weber grill needs a name. I name most everthing ya know. Even had a golf'n club named "Gracie". I'm think'n "Mr. Weber" would be a nice name, but I'm open to suggestions. Wilber???

I did what I said I was gonna do. Move all them tools to a back compartment an' got me a empty compartment for the Weber grill up front. Could probly put the propane tank in there too. Think'n I might throw some more junk in the dumpster. I got stuff I ain't use in 4 or 5 years...an' some I ain't ever use. "Damn Billy Bob, you a junk man".

Hey....there's a whole gob of turkeys out there. I got pics to prove it, but cain't post no pics. Verizon sucks. Kind of reminds me of when I had my first experience with "dial up". This is slow.

Got my fish license yesterday. Good for up to August 31st next year. Now I got to get out an' catch me up $22 worth of fish just to break even. I done forget from last year, but at Lake Amistad, I have to get a "motorized boat" permit to use the "bubba boat" in the lake. I rekon I could just leave the troll'n motor off an' paddle that sucker all over the lake. I won't be go'n very far that's for sure.

For Joey, my fish'n hole is bout 10 mile from San Pedro campground. Over there at the 277 North campground....what is still closed for maintenance...or something like that. I catched me up bout $22 worth of fish out that hole last year. The bridge (that my fish'n hole) is still above water, an' I bet ya a dollar, there fish in there.

Ok, I get me a great big ol' blanket what needs modified. It's a super king size an' I'm think'n I can get me two blankets out of that one. I ain't gonna be cold this winter.

Speak'n of cold, do you have a Mr Heater? Do you run it at night when ya go to bed? Are ya still alive the next morn'n?

    1. Yeah, I like that. How 'bout Wilbur Crispy? You got it made Billy Bob; 68 deg. Here it was 29 and heavy frost. Slapped everything standing to its knees. Had slight snow yesterday. I'm miserably cold. Winter is only good for seals, walruses and icicles far as I'm concerned

    2. Do you have to run the generator to make coffee? If you have a propane stove it seems you could do it on the stove top, except you can't use the plug-in kind of coffee maker. I use a Melitta system - boil the water and pour it through the coffee grounds/filter thingy, and what you get is perfect drip coffee!

    3. Dad gum it Sissy, your weather report give me goose bumps an' stuff like that. I agree on the critters an' icicles...Brrrrrrrrr!!!

    4. Ok Gypsy, here's the deal. When I brew coffee in my camp coffee pot on the stove, it usually sucks. When I fire up the generator an' brew me a pot in my Mr Coffee, it's pretty good.
The Mr Coffee draws more watts than I have inverter watts....so, fire up the generator.

    5. Hey BB how about you get a Keurig Coffee maker (98.00) at the Walmart and brew a great cup every time. I run mine off a 2000W cheap old Cobar (from Walmart) and two 12vt (Walmart) battery's and just think about it you won't have to every wash the the coffee pot. again. San Francisco Bay Coffee pods you can get from Amazon for 30 cents each (box of 80)...

  2. I have heating elements in my roof air-conditioning units. I use them. I have not turned on the furnace yet, except to make sure it worked. If I am plugged into electricity, why waste the propane? I do run the generator when going down the road so that I can use the overhead AC units.

    1. Yeah Dizzy to all that....but do you have a Mr Heater like I asked?
I also have a furnace, but a furnace is so inefficient, I'll never use it again. An' I too have two a/c's sit'n on the roof, but I ain't gonna run a generator for them to operate.....that's a gallon a hour ya know.

  3. I bought a propane coffee maker as winter sun didn't keep the batteries so I could use the inverter to power the electric one. Link to what I bought if it works.http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000008052-Portable-Propane-Coffeemaker/dp/B004E4IAEQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382813776&sr=8-2&keywords=propane+coffee+maker

  4. Mr. Weber is a respectful name for a great BBQ.
We have a Mr Heater, 7 years now. We do not use it when sleeping at night, (like waking up in the morning). Extra blankets keep us warm at night, don't run the furnace at all unless it gets below 20 f at night, In the morning turn on the furnace for a few minutes and Mr Heater, we good to go.

  5. Pretty sure those Mr Heaters all have carbon monoxide sensor shut off built in....and if you open a window about 1/2" or so, you should be good to go. Think of all the folks that had propane space heaters in their homes back in the day. All they did was crack a couple windows at night. If they didn't, well then they didn't wake up.

  7. Everyone else has bragged on their coffee making equipment so I'll tell you what I use although I don't expect that you will change to it. Aeropress! Best coffee maker that I have ever used, no electric needed, heat water on propane stove. Easy clean up. While were on the subject - use Arbuckels Ariosa, The Coffee That Won The West, in it for the best cup of sipping coffee you would ever want.
Don't have a Mr Heater but do have a Wave 6 that I have used sparingly while sleeping. Always have woke up but I do open a window some just to make sure. While I'm awake I don't open the window and I have never noticed any ill effects.
