A man's best friend.....a dog

Well shoot, yesterday I was sit'n here think'n bout all the chores I was gonna do for the day....an' I fell slap asleep. Good food does that ya know.....three over easy over a pile of pipe'n hot chili, some grated cheese an' onions. That will put anybody to sleep in no time. Anyhows, I sleeped right through the "do'n" part of yesterdays chores....I'm talk'n I didn't do nuttin. Unfortunately I didn't write them chores down. An' you know what that means? I don't have anything to do today.

Ok, nobody liked the cat story yesterday. I thought it was rather funny myself. So today, I may write a story bout "dogs"....man's best friend. Ya see, not everbody likes cats, but everbody do like dogs. For men, it's a macho thing. Gotta have a humungous 120 pounds Rottenwilder or something like that. For wimmins, they like them little Taco Bell size dogs. For the old Billy Bob, he like somewheres between....bout 15 to 22 pounds. A perfect size.

JoJo fit that category just perfect. When I moved to my sail'n boat, JoJo were just a tiny little pup, maybe a pound or so. He took to boat life with gusto. Run'n up an' down the decks bark'n at them damn sea gulls. Run'n up an' down the docks a hunnert mile a hour like a jack rabbit. Search'n out for old stink'n dead fish to roll in. JoJo owned dock #1. He piss on every piling an' electric pole. You leave a cooler of beer sit'n on the dock, he piss on that too. Everbody loved JoJo.

But JoJo was much more than a dog, he was family. Had personality. He drinked coffee. He stole my shrimps. He whispered on command. He chew up his rope in a hunnert short pieces. He sleeped in the captains bunk. He piss on keyboards. There's a different story for each of these traits an' it would take me a week to tell 'em. We'll leave it at this for today. Did I ever tell bout the time....JoJo bite hell out of the harbor master?

Oh Oh, I feel a nap com'n on. See ya all laters.

  1. I wouldn't mind having a Rottenwilder if I had enough room, but a 65# dog, + or - 10 pounds, seems just about perfect for my current life. I actually liked the cat story more than I like cats! Cats are okay and I usually just ignore them. For that reason they love to jump up on my lap.

You figured out the perfect way to avoid chores - don't write them down! Take it easy today, Billy Bob. That breakfast sounds like a killer!

    1. Gypsy, I still think that this 53lb quiet, loving, obedient black/white lab would be a great dog for you.

  3. I liked the cat story. Was trying to figure out how to show you a picture of my b-i-l who just got tore up by his cat. It required a 3 hour stay in the emergency room and 100 stitches-- mostly on his face. The cat accidentally escaped the house and was scared by the largish rottenwilder dogs in the yard. B-i-l tried to rescue the cat and paid dearly for his attempt. The cat stayed 2 days is a large tree in the yard, when the hired hand at the ranch easily retrieved him from the tree. My sister called the fire dept. hoping they would get the cat down but the person on the phone said no-- and the cat will come down unassisted==have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?

  4. If that happened to anyone I know, I would leave the cat in the tree until it turned into a cat skeleton!

  5. I like the cat story, I can just picture that cat leaping up when he hears the dog 'right there' and landing feet first in the bay!!
    Damn fine story!

  6. I have had Rottweilers for 28 years. Uri, my current male, is 142 lb and not fat. A well behaved silly boy.
Ulla, my 9 month old standard poodle girl, is constantly up to no good.
