Blog nab it!!!

It's com'n down to the wire. Do Billy Bob continue to write a blog or not? I'm think'n old Dizzy Dick had something when he say it's turns into work....or what ever it was he said. In a sort of way, blogs are kind of like the social network'n thingys....Twitter an' Facebook. But on those, the responses and comments ya get is usually fill with hatred and malice. Blogs is get'n "old" and people are mov'n on to other things.

A while back, blogg'n was new to me. I were all excitis.....(don't check my spell'n MsB). I were gonna share my everday life with the world. Well, I did that. I tole all the stories of my childhood, my projects, a little nonsense here an' there....I wrote a book if'n ya was to take time to edit it. But dag nab it, I done run out of stuff to write about.

My neighbor Jim come by last night an' I pick up a old horseshoe an' start tell'n him bout that old horseshoe. Bout the time I get to Pancho Villa visit'n my granda's ranch, Jim says to me...."you told me that story last week". That the way it is with blogg'n. Ya tend to repeat stories what everbody done heard bout a hunnert times.

I were sit'n out on "da porch" last night while the sun was go'n down. I were sip'n up a cup an' do'n some think'n. Done ate my supper bout 10 minutes ago, chili spaghetti, when all a sudden a thought hit me. "It's time to git out of Dodge (Deming)". Time to hit the road. Ya been here long enough Billy Bob.

Speak'n of chili. I done fount me a new chili seasoning made by McCormick. It's called Tex Mex chili. Of course McCormick is the lazy mans chili, but I'm tell ya right now, this stuff is gooood....after ya doctor it up a tad or two. You know, garlic, onions, some chop up jalepenos....stuff like that. Make little sweat beads break out on your forehead.....run down in your eyes an' ya cain't see. Oh hell no.....it ain't that hot. Just a tad on the other side of mild an' a few notches from hot.

Ok....gonna see if'n I can find something excit'n to do today.

  3. I think there comes a time in all our lives that the thought of quitting the blogging comes to our minds.

That's a decision that each blogger has to make. I would like to see you keep on, but I certainly understand if you decide to stop.

    Whatever works for you, buddy!

    1. For some of us Jim, posting a blog comes easy. Others have to really work at it. Lately, I've had to reach way down in the bucket to write something.

  4. How will I ever catch up with you, sit down, and sip on a cup if I don't know where you are. I read your blog every day and would surely miss it. Please don't stop, just skip a day every now and then.

  5. I'm one of those folk's that live "vicariously" - whatever that means - through your activities. In so many other words, your daily daily journal is very enjoyable to read and follow. I'm with the Hermit though, it's your deal. My wish in addition to that, is you stay healthy and continue to enjoy your retirement.

  10. I've been sitting behind the barn myself on ever commenting, but this got me going up yonder to the barn door to see what was going on! You know what? I follow a blogger who posts on Sundays and Wednesdays, no more than that. It works out just right because his readers know the two days he'll be writing, and it gives him a few days worth of pondering and getting into trouble so's he can write something in that next blog post. Even once a week posting would be better than none, you see, you'd have pert near a week to come up with some awfully good reading for us folks. You could doodle notes in one of those dime store notepads for remembering what all you'd want to write about. I have gotten to the habit of carrying a notepad and a pencil in my pocket all the time so I can remember things in my, shall we say, older years. With this here suggestion I'll be heading back around to the back of the old barn, and will be hoping you'll ponder on what I have written, as I'd sure miss your writings. Hope to be seeing more blogging from you, but if not...then just go on and enjoy life as you ought to be doing, just don't leave us readers hanging on and wondering what you decide...

  11. Gee Billy Bob I'd hate to see you stop bloggin'. I stop by just about ever day to see what your up to. Like Miss Gypsy said you still got lots to say and I bet when you hit the road again things will just pop up left and right to talk about. I like the grim reaper philosophy!

  12. I'd miss your blog if you stopped doing it. How would I know when you came by my house?...I'd think it was just another truck honking.
I'm driving over to Dallas Wednesday and get me a Fletcher's Corny Dog and set down in front of Big Tex and eat it. I'll try to remember to tell you how it was.

  13. That's what everbody is talkin about, BB. if you was to chow down on a Fletcher's dog you would turn it into an adventure, one that we could all envision for ourselves just from the way you would describe it! This is your deal BB so just do what you need to, but know for sure that folks would miss your silliness and seriousness and everthing in between. I can vouch for me and I know I aint the onliest one.

I throw my vote in with the rest- I do enjoy our visits. I don't comment that often, but you sure give me some jollies first thing in the am, right after my bubba Hermit Jim. Let us hear about coming back to Texas, and who knows? Maybe I'll round up the Hermit and the 3of us (or 4 if we can get Dizzy, too) will meet up somewhere for a cuppa and a sammich. We'll miss you if you go, but we'll all understand.... or try to.

  16. Now that I am almost caught up with your blog, you are gonna quit? No siree Billy Bob!, please.
On another note, your Billy Bob cake has got me in trouble, after the first one that proved supermoist, the neighbor, the MIL, the sister have made me bake 3 more. Works great with strawberries too. So when I started reading your comments about chili, I skipped that part, all I need is to start making chili for a “hunnert!”

  17. You need a friend like my best friend. Neither of us can remember who said what, so we figure we tell each other the same stories over and over and it's like it was the first time around. I'm one of those who hope you keep writing so when I do finally get up to that area I'll have some idea of where to go for the gathering.
