Shall we build a boat????

Due to a close to severe back issue, I am still awake at 6:30am. Ever time I lay back an' close my bloodshot eyes, I get this pain go shoot'n down my leg an' beat the hell out ever thing all the ways to my toes. Sciatica sucks.
Since I am awake an' cain't go to sleep, I'm gonna write something. In hopes it will bore me to sleep right here at the computer.

That pink eye an' allergies I got....I done got that one figger out. Remember I ate me some grilled pizza the other night? Well, I put me a handfull of some hot pickled chop up jalapenos on that pizza. I wiped hot pepper juices off'n my fingers an' the cut'n board with a paper towel. Since I don't throw paper towels out until they are no longer useable, I was wipe'n my poor ol' eyes with that paper towel. Have ya ever stick a jalapeno in yer eye? Ha, I thought I was go'n slap blind. Both eyes feel like brand spank'n new this morn'n after throw'n them paper towels in the dumpster. A little tender, but feel soooo much better.

Ok, let's git something straight right now. I like build'n stuff. I get all excitis ever time I pick up a hammer or a saw. Just like I did right after I retired an' jump in a motorhome (Alice) an' go on a trip to California. Be kind of like a farmer buy'n a new John Deere tractor. Go plow up some dirt....grin'n ear to ear.

All the hours I been work'n on the "Alice" project has done so much more than give me the thrill of build'n something. I had me hour after hour of some wonderful past travel memories. Camp'n an' see'n stuff. See'n stuff people fly all the ways from Europe an' Asia to see. Ha...build'n that bed an' blanket/quilt made me remember Vickie Lynn fall'n in that hole back there. I been think'n bout this kind of stuff ya know. Ok, I'm git'n off track here...back to reality.
Anyhows ,if'n the time has come for me to place "Sally da house" up on some concrete blocks, my life ain't over by a long ways. I can build me something. An' I'll be happy do'n it.....I betcha a dollar.

Ok, are ya with me? Bout that model of my Formosa sail'n bout....I fount me a big enough place to put it. Google, Google, research, research, download a hunnert pictures, I can do this.  Another "scratch" build.
What ya think, can the old Billy Bob do it?

I been worried bout the construction the hull. That's the hardest part.....git'n both side the same. An' then I got to think'n bout styrofoam an' fiberglass. Shoot, I know how to make electric hot wire stryofoam cut'n thingys an' I got me a sharp knife, a file, sandpaper, a hand saw an' a big ol' hammer. What could possibly go wrong? Scale will be 1:12....41 inch long.
But first, I got me a motorhome to build. Ha, ever time I look at it I think of Alice...an' the time we like to freeze to death when the heater broke one night (dead batteries). Bend Bend National Park, January 2002. 14 freak'n degrees. Ya don't boondock with 1 battery, Walmart special, when the world is com'n to a ice age end. This was before I purchased cold climate blankets what keep ya warm. All we had was tropical island blankets from Port Aransas....what don't keep ya warm.

Holy CRAP, did you see that? It's minus 51 degs way the hell up there in Canada, an' that minus 51 degs is headed for south Texas. I'm think'n that by the time them northern states get their share, it will only be in the upper 30's here. Far I'm concerned, they can have all of it.

That dirt pile out there looks dry, so the gold course should be somewhat dry too. Not much rain in Sinton yesterday. Drizzle, drizzle....

Speak'n of golf course, the next time i swak a golf ball, that sucker is gonna go into the next county....out of bounds. Damn, I can hardly wait.

Grrrrrrrr.....it don't work

It still don't work.....

  1. Yep you can built that boat, but just put the finishing touches on Alice first would be wonderful. Then some golfin' before the boat building would be wonderful. More great memories.

    1. Build'n the "Alice" project is my first attempt to build a replica of the real thing from scratch. Kits are pretty easy. Scratch ain't.. It will be finished before I jump on another project like this. All that cuss'n I do when I screw something up would eventually find it's way to the "Coyote" project.

Yup, you got that right, I need to swak me up a golf'n ball.

  2. Ohhh we really chuckled at your jalopeno story.. sorry! I remember having a big cut on my hand... it had been healing nicely and I had the bandaid off already.... and I was cutting up jalopenos. Just happened to brush the open spot with some of the juice/oil from the peppers... OH MY!!!!!!!

Love the idea of you making a replica of your boat.... and we can get more stories as you build it!

    1. I laughed too. While I was cry'n big ol' waterfalls of tears.

Yes, there are plenty stories to tell of my liv'n on a sailboat. Almost sink'n in the slip 'cause the shower faucet was left on. Same shower wand as in a RV. *shower drains into the bilge an' pumped overboard via float switch* Ha, pump was burn slap up. Filled bilge.

  3. Well I guess we could try to say you are allergic to jalapenos, but at least now we know "the rest of the story" "Paul Harvey good night"

  5. No comment yet; I've not finished reading this post. BUT talking about boats, I picked up a page of the New York Times few days ago and saw all these models of boats/ships being sold. There is even a website you can go to. Beautiful models. Some not too expensive. Phone # 888-669-2709 or nytstore.com. Thought you might check it out. Here is what I see: R. M. S. Titanic, USS Constitution, HMS Sovereign of the Seas, HMS Victory, HMS Canadian yacht/Dolphin, Cutty Sark Endeavour, Soleil Royal/w 112 guns, Classic Runabout, a Chris-Craft powerboat w/hand-stitched leather seats. That's only a few pictured. Teak wood and such quality parts and fittings. Also 15% discounted!

    1. The boat replica will be of the boat I lived on for 7 wonderful years. I've already build 2 Cutty Sarks in my other lifetime. This build has to be of "Coyote" an' nuttin else.

    2. I was thinking of after you do the "Coyote".

Next time you goof and get a burning 'hot peppered' eye, try sloshing cool water in it. It worked for me.

  6. Believe it or not but there is an herbalist who recommends rinsing your eyes out with cayenne pepper juice. Says it helps your eye sight and after doing it enough you can throw away your eye glasses. Looks like you got your first treatment in!

    1. I'm think'n I used to put cayenne pepper in a glass of water an' drink it. Now why the hell was I don' that?

  7. There's a lot to being thrifty but you might have to rethink that practice.
Hope you get a chance to swing that club.
