There's not much to report on this morn'n....it's just another day.
Before departing the New Mexico Travel Center, I crank up the engine an' check my brakes. They seem to be working fine just sit'n still. Go'n down that big ol' hill towards I-10 proves that to be a wrong assumption. I'm stomp'n hard on the brakes an' using a toe to pull the pedal back up when I need to go. This was the last time I had to use brakes until I arrived in Deming at the off ramp. Oh wait.....the Border Patrol Drug station. Yup, gotta stop there too.
When I pull into the "mom an' pop" rv park, it's look'n pretty good. Weeds ain't over a foot or two high. Holy cows, somebody clean up Billy Bob's old camp'n site.
So's I back "da house in, right next to "da porch". Old "pesky neighbor" Wayne show up an' we sit on "da porch" jaw'n....bring'n back many wonderful memories.
Damn I love my "da porch". Look just like the day I build it....with a litttle wrinkle here an' there, weathered a bit, solid as a brick shit house. I would sit on this porch any day of the week rain or shine.
The cactus garden has growed up out of control. I planted all them cactus an' stuff out of love for desert plants. But they need some attention. Grass growed up what ain't supposed to be in a cactus garden, cactus plants 6 feets tall, some plants way too big.....they gotta go.
My "devil plant" Bird of Paradise is turn into a huge bush. Trim'n required.
This is one beautiful plant when it's all dress up with blooms.
Back to the brakes.....neighbor Mark loves to work on automotive stuff. He ask me if'n it was OK if'n he took a look see. Well hell yeah it's OK with me....I ain't crazy ya know. More on that later.
The high desert, 4300 feet, is do'n a number on my breathing. But that's nuttin new for me. Does it ever time I return to Deming. Bout a week, I be good to go. Back an' hip ain't in too bad a shape this morn'n. I was expect'n a restless sleep last night....it weren't, sleep pretty darn good.
Weather....boy howdy, was it ever hot yesterday....an' gonna be again today, 96 in the shade. But i got AC right? You betcha. But.....last night I thought I was gonna freeze to death. Got down to something like 64 degs. Ya cain't beat that with a stik can ya? Predicted temps for next week.....lower 90's an' mid 60's at night. Sound good to me.
I think that's it for now. More to come.....laters.

Sounds like you are happy to be home at da porch. Congratulations on a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteCain't necessarily say "happy, but I'm here. Place ain't changed a bit....Oh wait, they done fix the highway....yee haw, go hunnert mile a hour, no pot holes.
DeleteWhew, glad u made it, with those brakes acting up.
ReplyDeleteOh, they was act'n up, but I knowed what to do. Everthing fine unless I needed to stop.
DeleteI just noticed, does that steer head have yellow eyes? Guess he has been drinking up all your hooch while you were gond. . . Glad you got in OK. Say hellow to Wayne for us.
ReplyDeleteI worry bout you Dizzy. You been follow'n my blog for years an' you should remember when I installed yeller solar eye balls in that cow.
DeleteHowdy #1 BB,
ReplyDeleteSure am glad you didn't run thru that Federal Roadblock, because of NO BRAKES !!! They might have used a Howitzer on you, like they did on tanks !!!! I thought you gave 'da porch' away when you left !!! Now, you and ol' Wayne can dissolve all of y'all's hurts and complaints, asittin' on 'da porch', suppin' up a cupp!!!
Hope you have a WONDERFUL, PAIN-FREE, HAPPY DAY-WEEK-MONTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had actually sold the "da porch" to the RV park....so' it's still here.
DeleteHey nice looking porch , looks like you have some gardening to do there.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you get them brakes fixed up too. Would be nice.
Glad you made it ok. That porch looks like a place you could just sit all day long - really cozy & comfy. I guess 90's during the day isn't bad when it gets down into the 60's at night - that's what Sacramento weather is like.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if'n you are as glad as I am I made it.
DeleteThat's my million dollar porch sit'n out there. Didn't cost that much, but it's been worth a million to sit on it. Love my "da porch".
Well yes it is. 96 degs days suck. Even if it gonna be cool tonight.
Do you need to bleed the lines?
ReplyDeleteHi Michael, good to see ya again. I sure hope I don't need to bleed the lines. That would take me a whole week. Accord'n to all the other RV'ers with the same problem, the bell crank and too tight nuts are the fix. Simple fix would be nice.
DeleteGlad to see you made it..How could you ever leave Da Porch??
ReplyDeleteDavid
So glad you got to your destination and da porch is in fine shape..now you and pesky Wayne can jaw yourself for a lot of time..the temps don't sound to bad...we will get rain soon and it will never stop until next year. We don't have dry and more dry like you got in Deming, more like moss all year long and rain and humidity..The brake situation sounds like it can fixed easily without a lot of aggravation. Have a wonderful time and enjoy yourself..ciao!
ReplyDeleteBilly-Bobby looks like a dam nice winter home for ya, hell if I get to El Paso the winter to visit with the Grandkids maybe I can make a side trip west for a visit. Sure is nice ca you back right up along side that and come out the side door and have the awning cover the deck? Also any fishing or is that asking too much...
ReplyDeleteBilly Bob, I've had this question for a while and figured you could answer it. I hear a lot of RV'ers talk about Demming, NM. Is there just a lot of parks there or what is the attraction? Thanks.
