Come on Blogger....publish my post

Today is Saturday, but I didn't know that until a few minutes ago. What is it with old folk that have retired and have no respect for a calendar? Everbody should know what freak'n day it is.

I pondered the comments from yesterday suggest'n I get me a new "first mate". First off, I'm too dad gum old to be even considering such a thing. First mates are permanent ya know, an' ya gotta treat 'em like a wife. Ya got to support 'em an' buy 'em "girlie" stuff. Listen to 'em ramble on bout "wimmins" stuff. An' there's always the age old "git out of bed an' bring 'em a glass of water an' a couple aspirins for a headache". Now I would do that, but not on a permanent basis.First mated can be very demand'n ya know.

The only thing I would consider at my age, other than a "first mate", would be a travel companion. Preferably one with extensive nursing skills. Just thought I would throw that in there *grin'n here*. Not that I'm even look'n for a travel companion or anything like that, but it gives me something to think'n about while I'm sit'n on "da porch" sip'n up a cup.

Ok....gonna try to publish this before it get's too long. You gonna have to come back later to see what else the old Billy Bob has to say for today.

Ok....published like it supposed to do.....Yeee haaw!

Now where were we??? First mates an' travel companions. Think I'll leave it at that.

Flooding in New Mexico. Holy cows, half of New Mexico is flow'n down the Rio Grande river. In fact, the Rio Grande was overflow'n it's banks up further north....had rapids. Elephant Butte Lake is fill'n faster than they can release it. This should be good news for Lake Amistad and Falcon Lake in Texas. As of yesterday, 4 people have died in the floods. Further east, the Pecos River is get'n it's share of the monsoon rains. More water for the lakes on the Rio Grande.
The Membres River, what normally flows underground in Deming has a above ground water flow of about 3 to 5 feet deep. This is a seldom seen sight in Deming.

After close to a week of rain an' chilly weather, 77 degs is a welcomed sight today. I'm think'n this storm is over. Temps in the mid to upper 80's predicted for next week. I can do that.

  1. First mate you just need a person to come in every once in a while to clean, do the dishes, pick up your stuff, pay them well and you have what you will need.. I am married nearly 40 years and my hubs helps me out a lot, he is shy and quiet and needs his library stuff going on and computer games and Netflix and dvds, he treats me like a queen, we are only human but he is the best of a huge family the oldest of course the rest well I call them criminals in my mind never out loud, we don't see them at all, his Mom passed we paid for everything and when his good for nothing dad passed he left the money for it and some for us, we were shocked as he never did anything for his huge trible of kids and wife who would never divorce him so he did it and ran with other wimmen and drink and drugs for all we know he died youngin only 74 and 3 months his mother lived til 86 and 1/2 and expected my hubs to give her what we both worked for never happened, she eeked out a income from the first man she was married who actually had a lot of dough she did not want to keep married and had only 1 child with him she got his huge social security and lived very well with it..First mate, I have been a first and only mate and we are just fine..Get a big kick out of your blog read it everyday..hope you get to feeling better..ciao

  2. Yeah, being alone isn't great. The opposite sex it just too much trouble. For the most part I just do what I can myself, hire out the rest. I get my own aspirin and glass of water. :)

  3. Howdy # 1 BB,

We're sittin' here dry as a bone and the DRY COUNTRY OF MEW NEXICO is awashin' away !!!! Tain't fair !!!

Joyce sez, that when she was in college she went up to some caves 50' to 90' ABOVE the Pecos River that had been SCOURED BY FLOOD WATERS; ya reckon they'll get done again??? If the CARLSBAD CAVERNS get flooded, ya think all of the bats can swim outta there ???

HECK NO, you don't need no firstmate/travelin' companion to have to bother with !!! Every time you'd want to swak golf-balls she'd want to go to WalMart or som'ers !!! LEAVE'EM ALONE and hire the g-niece !!! She needs the 'sperience !!!!

  4. I have never asked anyone to get me aspirins and water? Where on earth did that come from. Some women spoil it for the rest of us! But, I am not looking for being a travel companion, whatever that means.

    1. Oh, I never have headaches. If I did, I still don't take aspirins. The right kind of attention takes away any headache.

  5. Please wish Wayne a happy belated birthday.

I have headaches but like Shadowmoss, I get my own aspirin. I am still looking for my tall, younger than me weathered cowboy so he can pamper and take care of me :)

    1. Howdy Ms B,

A 'real' cowboy only takes care of 'cows' and I, for one, don't think you fit in that category!!! The 'so-called' young weathered cowboys, nowadays, ain't agonna think or care for nobody but theyselves!!
You'd have to pull yourself off of your death-bed and get'em a drink of water....

We surly do hope you have a HAPPY DAY!!!!
