Mixed emotions

The mind works in mysterious ways. One day it's filled with thoughts of adventure, "fun" and everlasting bliss. The next day, the skys are filled with black clouds of doubt, displeasure and uncertainty. Today is one of those days.....it sucks.

When I arrived back in Deming, my mind was filled with thoughts of grandiose adventures. Climb'n mountains, bike ride'n, swak'n golf balls....stuff like that. Putting another year of doctor appointments behind me. Having my back looked at (MRI) and possible surgery. In only three days, those thoughts are shot all to hell. I got to make other plans.

Have ya ever had to wait for a mechanic what was gonna be here yesterday??? I'm a impatient man and waiting is not one of my most exciting daily routines. Especially when my mind is filled with "what the hell am I gonna do now". Yes I'm talk'n bout the brakes on "Sally da house". That's all I can think of. Everything else is on back burner until I am confident I can stop this thing at the next red light on the way for a doctor appointment. I refuse to drive down the road a hunnert mile a hour with no brakes.

Why don't I take "da house" to a repair place and get the brakes fixed? Well, I'll tell ya why. There is simplicity in the brake system, I can do it myself as well as any repair facility. Or I can get my neighbor mechanic to climb up under there an' do it. With my supervision of course. I understand perfectly well how the brake system works. But I don't understand how it can be broke one day an' not broke the next. That's why I spend hour after hour Googl'n stuff. At this point, I'm almost certain....I said almost, that the hydroboost brake booster is going out. All arrows point in that direction. Now where the hell can I purchase a hydroboost unit for a 2003 Workhorse motorhome?

Sorry for all the talk bout brakes an' stuff, but that's all I got on my mind.

Walmart today???? Maybe.

  1. It isn't if you can do the work but whether it is the smart thing to do. Physical decline of my body is why I pay for many things to be done for me.

    1. I thought that over Barney. That's why I got me a mechanic....."where the hell is my mechanic"???
I believe I'm capable of loosening a few bolts without do'n any harm.....maybe. It's the get'n back up off the ground that hurts.

    2. Only you can know what your body can still do safely but a friend will try to help you remember to consider before acting.

  4. Knowing absolutely nothing about brake systems I can't advise you. But you should take care when thinking about getting under the motorhome to fix something when you might be facing back surgery. Old man, I think sometimes I take too many chances but you have me beat!

  5. Can't you use your vehicle going to the doctor? Your neighbor 'offered' his help, didn't he? Try having patience and goodwill toward him, Billy Bob. Maybe he has urgent something elses for the couple days he mentioned. Yet I know how your feel. I go through the same stuff but I wait months often after seeking help, hmmph, sometimes years! Then so much never falls into place, so I am seeing my castle falling down around my head and my anger about it only makes matters ten times worse. All my helpers are "helped out" and weary of me and my problems. Asking my brother to replace two rotten boards five years ago and dozens requests since has gotten me nowhere...I can't take another tumble off a ladder myself! so, let em rot...broken back, rotten wall - my choice.

Today being lousy means a good one is now due you soon...the ways of the universe. :) :( :) :( Hang on.

  6. I'm with you on taking it to a place that's going to charge you 125.00 an hour and let some kid at 7.50 per hour screw it up more. If you can do it I say go ahead but don't be like me and know when to quit for the day 800 pm and just coming because it too dark and I will surly pay for it now and in the am when I wake up, and it will still be there looking at me.... Good luck with it Billy Bob, all of it

  10. Heck, at this time of your life, do what you want, (that means what you're able, lol) and just don't worry about it. Call that repairman like Robert said, (that's some of the "don't worry" part). After all, you can't take that money with you, so use it to be safe.

    How's ol Pesky's health now?
