Visit to the local dentist.....ouch!!!

Dad gum it. I was sit'n over there on the couch an' had me all kinds of stories to write about this morn'n. All kinds of angles an' a little spice added here an' there to make 'em more interesting. Well, all that think'n was for nuttin. I don't remember a damn thing this morn'n.

My back an' hip is rather sore this morn'n, but I don't have no idea why it would be. I didn't do nuttin physical yesterday.

After a nice shower, brush'n this long hair I got, shav'n off a ton of whiskers, I sit down an' got to think'n bout everthing you guys tole me bout bad teeth. Other health issues was my concern. Could my teeth be the reason I don't feel so good? You know, dizzy spells, no energy, aches an' pains here an' there....all I want to do is sit down an' do nuttin.

I says...."Sadie Mae, wanna go for a ride"? Yup she sure did, out the door she went lickity split. We headed up the road to Taft, Texas to locate a dentist place I went to 7 years ago. They had pull a tooth for me back in bout 2007 an' I was pleased. I didn't follow up on all the other repairs an' stuff what needed done at that time. That was when I could swak a golf'n ball 210 yards with no problems. So, does this mean that when I swak one 175 yards, I can blame it on my teeth? Just a thought....

I walks into the wait'n room. There ain't no body there but me. The nice lady behind the desk start ask'n me questions. I tell he I need to talk to the dentist....find out what needs done an' how long it gonna take. Long story short, I fill out some forms an' before I know it I'm stand'n in front a machine an' get'n me some x-rays for the dentist to make a evaluation and recommendations.

The very cute little assistant sits me in a comfortable look'n dentist recliner chair. There's a monitor in front me with pics of my teeth. I count them teeth. I got 21 left. Now she put this little camera thingy in my mouth an' take bout a hunnert photos of my entire mouth. I see 'em on that monitor thingy. I was bout to puke. Pieces of this morn'ns breakfast stick'n out between teeth. Last weeks hamburger stick'n out a big ol' hole. Plaque all over the back my teeth. I'm in trouble. Yes I brushed my teeth before leav'n "da house".

Doctor come in an' he say..."Oh my, we have some work ahead of us". Long story short, next Monday, I'll have two teeth removed, descale all that plaque off'n my teeth, a prescription for antibiotics an' probly some pain meds. But that's just the begin'n. There's more what needs done. He say there 's some holes what need filled, one tooth need a cap, an' some more clean'n up under the gums. . Medications to help heal my gums. Because of the gum issues, he says to come back every 3 months for a clean'n an' inspection. Dang, I was hope'n for just one visit.

I've found that it's just as much fun to write bout my daily activities as it is to write bout travels an' adventures. I've read some other blogs, an' I ain't the only one what does that. Some times I'm think'n I share too much bout my life....get too personal. The baddest parts of my life I will just keep in my memory banks an' share with ya the good stuff. Until I am back on the road travel'n an' stuff like that, this is what ya get.

Sure do wished I would remember I own a camera. The damn thing fits in a pocket....take it with you.

  1. Everyone likes to read about travels to exciting places, seeing the sights and all, but dang, we can't all be doing that all the time. Most of the time our lives are just plain ordinary, but when you read a traveling person's blog you feel like you get to know them personally, so you enjoy reading about their daily ho-hum lives too. I'm glad you decided to go to the dentist. If I'm in misery having my teeth fixed I want to know someone else is in the same misery (just kidding).

    1. Now wait a minute bout misery hav'n teeth fixed. I rekon I had me bout maybe 10 pulled....don't know how many ya start with, got 21 left. Of those 10 pulled, only one gave me misery...and that was 'cause the dentist cut my gum with the x-ray thingy. Gave me lock jaw for 3 days.

As for ordinary blogs, I also like 'em. After ya been with a blog for a while, ya get a personal feel'n. An' ya enjoy read'n every day stuff. I like to hear if'n somebody woke up with a headache or something like that. I read your blog every day and fully enjoy it.

  5. And I read both yours and Gypsy's blogs every day. Want to know what goes on with the both of you. So glad you did get yourself to the dentist. Have heard from many sources that poor dental care really takes a toll as we get older. Never mind whether you are traveling or staying at Camp Abraham, I still care about you. Like to know you are OK. My husband's health had pretty much grounded us from traveling, so our lives are boring, too. Well, some excitement. Our 18-year-old grandson has recently moved in with us. Talk about a shaking-up! An 80-year-old and an 18-year-old in the same house is quite a trick to manage. Not all fun, either. But did take away the same-old, same-old. Have a great day, and please keep on blogging. Blogs sure help cope.

  6. Good for you BB. I'm proud of ya! When the dentist gets done with you you'll be feeling much better, and your heart should too. Now if someone could get ya to likein' water.... or flavored water, Gatorade, hell even fruity juices etc., them cramps and muscle aches'n pains would subside, Then over the next months traveling to'n from the dentist with all them pain killer drugs his cutie will be givin' ya, ya could stop somewhere along the way to swak some golf balls.

    1. I'm think'n I'll probly be swak'n golf balls before I see the cutie again. I'm think'n maybe tomorrow....if'n my hip will allow.
Now bout drink'n water. You know I hate water, plain or flavored (unless it's flavored with coffee grinds), Gatorade sucks an' I don't do fruity juices.
But hey, listen to this, it was suggested I eat bananas....right? Well for the last four days I been eat'n me a banana every night. Also been get'n me leg cramps every night.

Just remember to take it out when you wash the pants, I move mine to the new pants when I move my belt, wallet, keys & pocket knife.

  10. I must admit I did not think you would go see the dentist but I am so glad I was wrong.

My uncle is having a lot of heart related problems and per his cardiologist in his case, they stem from bad teeth.

I don't care what you write about in your blog...I still read you even if you write about electrical stuff and golf which I do not know the first thing about.

I like blogs that talk about the day to day mundane things a person is going through. We all can't have fun and adventure all the time. I don't much care for cut and paste blogs though I read them too.

  11. Good for you, BB. I have mitral valve prolapse, no big thing really, but if I get bacteria coming in from bad teeth, it can sure invade my heart pretty quickly, or so they tell me. I make sure I go to the dentist regular, and gotta have a couple of small fillings next Monday, so we can suffer along toghether for a day or two.
Always glad to see your blog, even though I usually don't until the next day. I check about 7:00 am daily, so I'm seeing yesterday's stuff, but still enjoy it - Hang in there, for us. We 're here for ya...

  12. Yeah, I had my big dental Come to Jesus while in Honduras. Actually, I knew it all before I left but couldn't afford the $60K or so it was gonna take to fix everything while in WA. I had it all done in Honduras for about $3K. Several crowns, about 4 or 5 of them root canals, something like 24 fillings. But, he took out all of the silver and replaced it with white so I look good! :) And, I survived. Now I'm still trying to get a 'round toit' to get to Algodones to get a cleaning and hopefully a decent checkup for the first time in my life.

  13. If any of you will be close enough to Mexico, why don't you wait and get your dental work done there? I sure would if I could.

  14. Yikes! It was a good thing that you visited the dentist and had your teeth checked. Prolonging the appointment may have caused damaged to your gums which may require extensive procedures to undergo. How are they now? Make sure to frequent trusted clinics! Good day! :)

  16. I am glad you had that checkup, otherwise, you wouldn't know what needs to be done to save your dental condition. Sometimes, simple brushing after you eat is not enough to remove plaques and cavities. You also have to go on a regular visit to your dentist so that you’d know if you have any oral health problems.

  17. Glad that's over! Heh. We wouldn't really find relief until we cross the bridge, as the metaphor goes. And that's quite a bridge you had to overcome. This kind of divide between our shared ideas of comfort & dental visits is unnerving. A lot it has to do with the quality and accessibility of dental service. It's time we mend that particular gap, and get the kind of care that will make the trip second nature; as it is something we can reasonably contemplate with ease.

  18. Wanted to share my experience with my local dentist. I had a check-up and he found some trouble that needed immediate care. I informed him I did not have insurance and he broke a rule at his office and allowed me to make monthly payments to pay for the work so that the condition did not get worse and cost me even more.

  19. I wanted just share an experience i had at the dentist this week. I was not going to have coverage for another month, but the dentist knew I was in pain and offered to do all the work, and trust me that in a month I would have the coverage. This was one of the nicer things any professional has ever done for me.

  20. The last time I went to the dentist, the hygienist was so rough that she gouged my gums and caused em to bleed excessively. The pain was unbearable, and I think she was distracted because she was brutal the entire time. I hadn't gone back for years after than experience only to find she was fired weeks after my last visit.
